In 2022, Bechtel set new benchmarks in sustainability and innovation, underscoring their commitment to creating a better world. Their comprehensive impact report highlights key achievements and forward-thinking initiatives that have defined their year. Here are some of the standout metrics and projects:


Revenue Intensity: Bechtel achieved a remarkable reduction in revenue intensity to 357 CO2e/Billion USD in 2022.

Emission Reductions: They successfully cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions to 6.0K tCO2e, a significant drop from 15.5K tCO2e in 2016.

Customer Awards: The company secured more new work than any other year over the past decade, a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence.

Safety Excellence: Bechtel’s safety performance continues to lead the industry, with recordable and lost time incident rates significantly lower than industry benchmarks.

Cutlass Solar Project: Phase 1 of this project added 140 MW to power 20,000 homes, and eliminated 300,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Phase 2 will add another 218 MW.

Health Electrification: Bechtel launched an initiative to bring reliable electricity to thousands of health facilities in sub-Saharan Africa, improving critical health outcomes.

Zero-Flaring Study: The company is leading an assessment to reduce methane emissions at the Egyptian LNG export terminal, supporting Egypt’s Methane Global Pledge.
