Unilever Delivers Strong Progress on Sustainability Goals in 2023

Unilever has made significant progress on its sustainability goals in 2023, according to its annual report. The company has set ambitious targets in four key areas: climate, nature, plastics, and livelihoods.

  • In climate, Unilever has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions from energy and refrigerant use by 74% since 2015.It is on track to achieve its goal of zero greenhouse gas emissions in its operations by 2030.

  • In nature, Unilever has achieved a deforestation-free supply chain for palm oil, paper & board, tea, soy and cocoa.It is also on track to help protect and regenerate 1.5 million hectares of land, forests and oceans by 2030.

  • In plastics, Unilever has reduced its use of virgin plastic by 18% since 2019. It is on track to achieve its goal of a 50% reduction by 2025. The company is also making progress on its goal of 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable plastic packaging by 2025.

  • In livelihoods, Unilever is on track to spend €2 billion annually with diverse businesses worldwide by 2025. It is also helping millions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow their businesses.
